It came to the limelight in the 1890’s when the two lions known as the Tsavo man-eaters terrorized the Indian railway workers. The Lake Nakuru national park is home to almost all the major animals in the country. It’s more famous for the flamingoes that reside in the lake than for anything else. The best place to visit though is the Nairobi National park which in the Capital City itself. It is home to the big five apart from the elephant. These give one a chance to just laze about and enjoy the Kenyan sun. The best ones are the Mombasa beaches that tourists find the most convenient and enjoyable. Lamu beaches are also a must visit as you tour the island town on donkeys. This is a very ancient town that gives one the true African atmosphere. Watamu and Malindi beaches are also great places to visit. The rivers and lakes in the region are also a great tourist attraction.

Lake Victoria which is the second largest fresh water lake in the world is a great place to fish and its famous for its Nile Perch. Lake Naivasha is also a fresh water lake but found in the Rift Valley region. Other great lakes to visit are the Lake Bogoria which is famous for its geysers and hot springs and Lake Baringo. Kenya is also home to the world’s largest desert lake known as Lake Turkana or Rudolf which is in Northeastern Kenya.
