Reasons to Choose Senior Travel

It is fair to say that today’s seniors are much younger at heart and more energetic than they have ever been before. That old stereotype of a sweet old grandma or grandpa no longer fits most of us and in fact we are often to be found doing energetic and daring activities rather than knitting a cardigan or doing some gentle gardening. This fact is often reflected in the types of holiday that we choose and many of us would not even consider taking a senior travel trip. However, we could find that we are missing out, because travel companies have moved with the times and now offer some really fantastic destinations for senior travel that perfectly cater to all of our needs; even those we didn’t know we had.

Activity holidays are great fun and riding over the countryside on horse back or kayaking down a river is something that many of us would like to experience at least once. However, a normal guided tour may be much harder work than we initially imagined which could find us having to miss out on some of the planned activities or pushing ourselves just that little bit too far. Senior travel (or as the Danes say senior rejser) activity holidays are planned with us in mind. This means that they offer different levels of experience and stamina requirements for every activity. It also means that they spread the activities around a bit more and allow us to have rest time without missing out on anything. This is particularly good news for a couple that has one person that is more energetic than the other as there will be something to suit them both.

Getting travel insurance becomes more expensive as we get older and for some of us that extra cost may be the difference between being able to take the vacation that we want or having to compromise and settle for second best. Travel companies that offer senior travel trips often have agreements with insurance companies so that they are able to offer great deals on travel insurance. Often they are able to put this in with the price of the trip so that you have one sum to pay and that’s it. This is a great benefit to those that have a specific budget in mind for their holiday.

I know I keep on about us being older and all, but the fact is that we are and sometimes that can mean that we break a bit easier than we used to. Senior travel trips take this into account and they will always have a contact for us, if not a person on site, that we can rely on for help if it is needed. This can be if we need a doctor or a hospital. But it can also be helpful for the simpler things. For example, if your luggage does not arrive for any reason and your medication is in it, this could mean a lengthy and expensive trip to find a doctor to provide you with replacement medication. Instead, with senior travel, you just let your contact know and they will sort the rest.

Senior travel really is tailor made for us that are getting older but are still young at heart and the best thing in my book is that they do it without being condescending in any way. So next time you are thinking of booking a holiday, take a moment to look at the senior travel trips that are available first; you won’t regret it!
