Travelling to Sikkim a Trekking Paradise
Sikkim has been blessed with so much natural beauty that sometimes it looks unreal. You can experience dramatic changes in climate and flora and fauna because of variation in altitude. The altitude varies from sub-tropical to alpine to the high altitude areas in a short time. Darjeeling is gateway to Sikkim. It is five hours drive from Bagdogra that is connected with bigger Indian cities by airlines. One can also reach Darjeeling by toy train from Jalpaiguri. This vintage train is a steam locomotive which is now World Heritage train.
While relaxing on terrace of posh hotel at Darjeeling and enjoying cup of famous Darjeeling tea you can have impressive view of India’s highest peak, Kanchenjunga. You can plan to get closer to Sikkim Himalaya like explorers in earlier days by using Goibibo coupons. You will enjoy trekking in Sikkim. You will pass through colorful hamlets, beautiful gompas through the alpine forests which are full of various types of flora and fauna. Spring, autumn and winter are three best trekking seasons in Sikkim. Summer is ideally suited for botanical tours.
Sikkim is a popular destination for the trekkers with short day hikes and the long treks. Most preferred treks are Dzongri/Goecha La Trek and Green Lakes Trek. Yambong Singalila trek is another new trail. Trek starts at 1300m altitude from village Nambu which is six hours drive from Pelling. On the way you will find impressive monasteries worth visiting. This is 14 days trek. As considerable altitude is gained during first few days, this gain should be viewed seriously being risky. You should keep some extra days while planning trek to cater for acclimatizing and unplanned days for rest and book hotels using Makemytrip coupons for hotels.
