To maintain the beauty of the Puerto Princesa Underground River, the government strictly implements a “no permit, no entry” rule for tourists. The park only allows 900 visitors everyday. You may secure permit at the park’s office located in the city or have a Palawan travel agent get them for you.
When getting the permit on your own, visit the office along Rizal Avenue, which is only a few minutes away from the airport. The office allots about 100 slots for walk-in visitors. The PPUR office is open from 8AM to 4PM Mondays to Fridays and 8AM to 12PM on Saturdays and Sundays. There is always a long line in the booking office. There is chance that you may not get a permit as a walk-in visitor. The best way to secure a permit is to let a travel agency do it for you.
During the tour, bring a valid ID, such as your passport or any ID cards issued by the government, as the park management will verify your permit and ID at the Sabang Port.
Sometimes Visitor Entry Permits (VEP) are cancelled because of bad weather conditions. In such cases, you can rebook your tour at a later date or ask for a refund.
